Tokunbo Labisi reviewed the major highlights from our last meeting after which he moved for the adoption of minutes of the March 7th meeting as distributed by Layi Adeola. This was seconded by Sola Adeniji.
Financials & related updates:
The financial update was given by the Assistant Treasurer (Yinka Adeleke). He informed the meeting that there was no change in the association’s financial standing from the previous month ($7,921.40). According to him, contributions from both the annual dues and donations lagged behind that of last year and he encouraged everyone at the meeting to pay the association’s annual due ($250) and make donations because money from these sources are critical for the solvency of the association. The Association’s targets for annual dues and donations have not been met.
On-going project updates:
Dr. Ilupeju informed the meeting that he had made a payment of N1.5m to Col. Agboola for the payment of the chair-desk-combo to Olivet. These chair-desk-combo will have the same inscription as the earlier batches with continuous numbering (OBHS-NA-301 to OBHS-NA 500). He said he would be sending the balance of N480,000 to Col Agboola in the next couple of days.
IT & related updates:
Yinka Adeleke gave an update on the association’s website (https://obhsoyo-na.org/). He said the website is 98% done and that it is a secure website. Some of the pictures from the previous meetings have been uploaded to the websites. He asked member to forward to him any relevant pictures and/or videos. He plans to keep updating the website on a regular basis. He asked member to visit the website and provide him with feedback regarding any question, concerns, or suggestion. According to him, some of the tabs/folders on the website are currently empty. He would like to have our suggestions as to what we would like to populate them with. According to him, visitors to the website would be able to send emails directly to any member of the executives. To this effect, he said each member of the executive have been assigned an official email address (this is associated with the website) so that they can respond directly to whosoever reaches out to them via the website. The email addresses could also be used for any transactions involving the association. He said he would be sending personalized code to each member of the executive. This code is needed for the activation of the email address. Yinka Adeleke encouraged us to visit the website and provide him with feedback on how to make the site better and more user friendly. He also asked if there is a telephone number that can be put on the website. The president said as of now there is none but there is a possibility of having one in the future. A question was asked regarding being able to make donations through the website. Yinka Adeleke promised to work on that.
Other Business:
Sola Adeniji raised the issue of the new hall that the national body of OBHS alumni association is currently working on and would like to know what our (OBHS-NA) plans are with regards to supporting this task. He said the Nigerian Baptist Convention has taken over Jubilee hall and that some students had to write their exams in the hall way due to lack of sufficient space. He encouraged us to work on getting whatever we plan to give towards the project as soon as possible. Toyin Sholotan asked for information on the total cost of the project and information on how far along the project is. Sola Adeniji said he would visit with Gbolahan Labinjo (National President) and promised to provide answers to the questions during our June meeting.
Closing: Tokunbo Labisi closed the meeting and Sola Adeniji said the closing prayer at 9.46 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Tayo Adedokun
