Meeting Notes – April 2018

Minutes of the Meeting of Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, Old Students’ Association, North America, Inc. held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

 Members Present:

Opening:

Tokunbo Labisi declared the meeting open at 9:05 pm EDT and said the opening prayer.

Association Website:

Yinka Adeleke called into the meeting from the airport while waiting to catch a flight and thus gave an update before boarding his flight.  He reported that he has migrated the Association Website to a new service provider named Blue Host. The new site has, among others,  unlimited band width, unlimited email account, unlimited storage, and enhanced security features. Materials from the old provider is currently archived as he builds the new site, which he hopes will be completed in approximately one month. The new website is under construction with the 6 pages from the old site.

Annual Dues and Financials updates:

Dayo Adedoyin reported that a total of $2,000 was deposited into the account since the last meeting, which represents donations for a total of $500.00 and 6 annual dues of $250.00 each.  Total expenses for bank transfer charges and 200 desk/chair combos to Fatai Ilupeju were $5530.00 (30.00 + 5500). Account balance is $7921.41.

Volunteering Opportunities:

Remi Iloh suggested 2 projects for the association to undertake:

  1. A) Meals on Wheels America, a national program meals program for the at risk and senior citizens. This could take the form of volunteering to package and donate meals in cities such as Atlanta and Houston. Following contributions from Tokunbo Labisi, Layi Adeola, Fatai Ilupeju, and Dayo Adedoyin, Remi Iloh was authorized to proceed with the logistics for executing the Meals on Wheels and contact other members for assistance as needed.
  2. B) Red Cross Blood Donation Drive: This, along with other project ideas, should be put forward to the 2019 Reunion Local Organizing Committee in Houston for planning and incorporation into Reunion Activities.

 

Donation of 200 Desk/Chair Combos to Olivet:

Fatai Ilupeju reported that he received $5500 transferred into his account, which he exchanged at N360.00 to $1.00 for a total of N1,980,000.00. This represents N1,970,000 for 200 Desk/Chairs and N10,000 for transport and incidentals between Ibadan and Oyo for Colonel Jibola Agboola, who is supervising the carpenter constructing the Desks.  Fatai Ilupeju transferred N999,000.00 to Col. Agboola as he requested. The balance of N981,000.00 will be transferred when Col. Agboola requests.

Layi Adeola moved for adjournment of the meeting and Segun Sobanjo said the closing prayer at 9.58 PM.
